The Parade of Homes originated in 1948 and was initiated by a local Home Builders Association in Minneapolis, Minnesota, aiming to assist World War II veterans in finding homes after the war.

Since then, the event has expanded nationwide, evolving into an annual tradition where local builders and architects showcase the latest trends in the housing industry. The event also serves to inspire attendees for their future homes. Over time, the Parade of Homes has transformed into a competitive showcase for innovative home builders and an opportunity for the public to explore the latest lifestyle and architectural trends.

In Tallahassee, the Parade of Homes is hosted by the Building Industry Association of the Big Bend (BIABB) of North Florida and has been held every spring since 1955. This event spans five North Florida counties, including Wakulla and Leon County. Visitors can freely explore any homes that pique their interest at no cost. A few of the homes featured in the Parade of Homes are located in neighborhoods such as Canopy, Fletcher Oaks, Landon Hills, and Fallschase
