Built in 1915, this beautiful example of Classical Revival architecture has graced the corner of Dawson Street for well over a century. This sanctuary was commissioned by one of Thomasville's prominent plantation owners to be the home of the Church of Christ, Scientist. Designed by noted architectural firm of Hubbell and Benes, based in Cleveland, Ohio, the building features striking details such at the ionic columns, Palladian windows, and locally milled brick, and moldings. In addition to the original sanctuary, another well designed structure was added to accommodate church offices and classrooms. This is truly a beautiful house of worship and reverence in its purest form. Also given the location within one of Thomasville's most desirable historic districts and its close proximity to downtown Thomasville, this would be an excellent candidate for a residential conversion, gallery space, or other commercial application. Situated on a prominent corner lot with an additional lot for parking or garden space, this is one of Thomasville's most unique historic redevelopment opportunities.
